Barcelona’s Best Wine Shops; our top picks

Vila Viniteca

Without a doubt the most famous wine store in Barcelona is Vila Viniteca, they are the largest and most important wine importer and distributor in Europe. The store will impress you, and with over 10,500 bottles to choose from it’s a wine-lover’s must-see in Barcelona.
As well as being a wine shop they’re a gourmet store too, with hundreds of cheeses, hams, and exclusive goodies to accompany your wine selection. The store is beautifully decorated with wine bottles, cheeses, and deli sections; luxury goodies all the way, and there’s something for everyone. I always recommend having a glass or two of wine here – the perfect accompaniment to your cheese and ham selections. In my humble opinion, they serve up the best ‘pan con tomate’ (bread with tomato) in Barcelona at Vila Viniteca. Try it and let me know what you think.
Vila Viniteca has 2 locations, one of which is perfectly situated in a big shopping mall; Lílla Mall on Diagonal. Here you can find everything from Zara, Mango, organic grocery stores, plus welcoming restaurants and of course Vila Viniteca.
They have two locations, one in Carrer dels Agullers and one on Av. Diagonal. They are closely connected to La Vinya del Senyor, a wine bar you cannot miss in Barcelona. Both are equally cool to visit, but the one in El Born is a little more in the heart of Barcelona. The knowledgeable and lovely staff are amazing too, and everyone who works there is an experienced sommelier.
Find them here: Av. Diagonal, 557, 08029 Barcelona and Carrer dels Agullers, 7, 08003 Barcelona They can also be found on Instagram.

Outlet de Vins

My next Barcelona wine store, Outlet de Vins, is closely connected to Vila Viniteca, and here you’ll find rare vintages and plenty of interesting international wine at great prices. They offer exceptional value wines, and I can highly recommend the Friday and Saturday tastings – they’re great fun!

Vins & Co

The best wine store for Catalan wines in Barcelona is without doubt Vins & Co. I used to work in this charming store – it’s well located in the center of Barcelona and is a must for lovers of Catalan wine. The store is divided up into regions, so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. They have an amazing selection of wines and it’s a really pretty shop too. A must-visit if you’re in Barcelona.

Vinus & Brindis

Next up, a charming neighborhood wine store and wine bar Vinus&Brindis. What makes this Barcelona wine shop so special, is the in-store wine bar – and you can stop in for a glass any day of the week.
Vius&Brindis is run by two lovely souls who are passionate about wine in Catalonia. They’ve introduced me to many trendy wine producers, and hosted plenty of fun and engaging tastings.
On Tuesdays they run a tasting session called Stranger Wines, where they pour lesser-known wines by the glass to introduce customers to different wines and keep them exploring. Then on Fridays, they open an expensive Zumo de Pepino wine, and you get to taste pure luxury without having to buy the full bottle. They have a great selection of local wines and a very unique style of buying, so there’s always something new and exciting to check out.

Bodega Bonavista

The next two wine shops are in Gràcia – one of my favourite Barcelona neighbourhoods. Bodega Bonavista is well-known for its sassy playlists and lively parties. It’s only open until 9pm, but who knows what happens when the Champagne starts flowing?! Old-school and charming, this is a great place to come for a few glasses of wine. The welcoming owner is very witty, and your next visit to Barcelona should definitely include a stop here.

LA NATURAL

LA NATURAL is the newest wine store in Gràcia, and only stocks natural wines. Besides being very charming, the store is filled with fun and quirky labels. Rafa, the owner, has been in the wine industry forever, and distributes his own natural wines as well as others. Don’t miss out on picking up a bottle of wine if you’re in the neighbourhood.

El Petit Celler

Last but not least, El Petit Celler is a high-quality distributor for national and international wines here in Barcelona. They have a really huge selection of wines at amazing prices, and sell interesting and different wines you don’t often see. The store has a lot of variety, and they specialize in great wine tastings for groups of 10-14 people in their amazing tasting room. They’re open weekdays for wine by the glass at great prices. It’s a great place to meet friends and sample new wines, served up with fresh and tasty tapas.

Pick up a Bottle from one of Barcelona’s Best Wine Shops

It’s time to share a few good reasons to buy a souvenir bottle of wine on your Barcelona travels.
A Taste of Catalonia: The essence of Catalonia, wine is a cultural expression and each bottle tells a different story. By taking a bottle home, you bring with you a piece of this rich heritage; a taste of the sun-drenched vineyards and the artistry of Catalonian winemakers.
A Recollection of Memories: Barcelona’s energy is infectious! What better way to relive your time in this beautiful city, than by uncorking a bottle and letting its aroma transport you back to the lively streets, the laughter-filled evenings, and the flavors of the local cuisine you indulged in during your visit.
The Perfect Souvenir: Amidst the myriad of meaningless souvenirs, a bottle of local wine stands out as a unique treasure. It’s not just a product; it’s a symbol of the experiences, connections, and moments that made your visit to Barcelona exceptional. Whether it’s the robust reds of Priorat, a fantastic sparkling wine, or the refreshing whites from Penedès, the diversity of Catalan wines ensures there’s a bottle perfectly suited to your palate and to commemorate your journey.
So, as you wander through the charming streets and soak in the lively atmosphere of Barcelona, make sure to visit one of the city’s amazing wine shops. Pick up a bottle (or a few!) and carry with you the spirit of Catalonia! Let the uncorking of that bottle unlock a flood of cherished memories; a taste of this captivating city you can savor long after your journey ends. Salud!
